I had only been asleep for about 20
minutes, when Stiles shook me awake. “What? What’s wrong? Where are we?” I sat
up looking around. “No idea. It’s just outside of Beacon Hills. And I’m pretty
sure Scotts here.” I looked around, and tilted my head. When I was a kid,
someone had found out about me, and pretended to foster Claire and me. But he
was actually experimenting on me. Thanks to that jackass, I gained a special
ability, so to say. I can see heat outlines. I studied the inside of the giant
complex. “Second floor, no third floor. One, two… Three people. One is slowly
fading, and is being held by some sort of hanger.” Stiles jumped out of the car
and was heading to the building with a… Baseball bat? Really Stiles? Shaking my
head I ran after him, creeping along the inside edge, I stopped Stiles from
going any farther. Someone had slipped out of my heat sensor.
A tall man. He had a strong odor,
but it wasn’t werewolf. “A Basilisk.” I hissed, pointing at a ladder to the
second floor for Stiles. I made sure he was climbing up, and then I hopped down
and snuck up behind the Basilisk. He was already changed. I had to watch out
for his tail, which had a stinger, and he can spit small poisonous rocks.
“AAAGH!” I screamed, jumping at his back, pulling out the dagger I kept hidden
on my side. Then channeling some fire into only my hands, I made the blade
really hot, and stabbed it into his lower neck. He stumbled, and then fell.
Making sure he was dead, I dragged the knife down his spine, and pulled out the
bone. “That is disgusting.” Stiles said from behind me.
I spun, hiding the knife back in
its spot. “How long have you carried that?” He asked indicating the knife.
“When I was 10, one of my foster dads had tried multiple times to force himself
on me, cause I always hid Claire, so one day at school, I told a teacher to get
us time away from them. When they dragged him to the station, I snuck out to
his shed, and made it. Using fire from my own source and metal. The handle is
made from jasper. The blade is actually silver.” He listened intrigued, and
then a noise above us made us both scramble for the ladder.
I
knew that was too easy. I sighed, peeking out from the floor hole we were
climbing through. Tamara? I spotted
her walking away from us. She looked down through the floor at the Basilisk.
Hand covering her mouth. Then she spun around and made eye contact with me. My
blood froze, and I knew know that it had been too easy on purpose. There was no
way that guy was even trained. He probably just knew that he could grow a tail.
“You shouldn’t be here! Go away!”
Tamara’s distorted voice screamed out. Then she straightened up, and her stature
changed. She was suddenly more poised, and more pissed off looking. “Rae? Let’s
go.” Stiles tugged on my pants leg. “No. We’re not leaving without her or
Scott. I’ll distract her, you got get Scott. And Stiles?” “Yes?” “Don’t take
the bat.” I felt his hand slip up to my side, pulling the small dagger out of
its sheath. “Don’t worry I have more.” I said letting him climb up beside me.
He kissed me then ran up the second flight of stairs. “Where are you?” Tamara
sang out. I had dodged behind a small pillar, and was holding two knives, ready
to strike if needed. “Raaeee….”
Then it was silent. Her figure dropped
down in front of me, and I spun my leg around, knocking her over, but she
regained her footing, and out of nowhere swiped at me with one of her tails. I
cried out holding my hand over the very open very bloody wound. I glanced at
her, and then stabbed her leg, swinging my leg up around to hit her, and she
managed to shake free, her leg bleeding. “Tamara!” I gasped as she wrapped a
wire around my throat. I threw myself backwards, shoving her against the
pillar, then we fell to the floor. The wire tightened, and I spotted a small
pole of wood. Grabbing I swung it around and wacked her head, she gasped and
let go, I rolled away gasping and coughing. “Bitch!” She jumped at me, but I
moved, my foot catching her face, and she flew to the side. I felt sick and was
bleeding from about half my body. “Tamara.” I said quietly. “Please don’t do
this. You can’t be only bad.”
“You
don’t know anything.” She growled, before flipping backwards and disappearing.
Then Stiles and Scott came stumbling down the ladder. “Where is sh-?” Stiles
stopped when he saw me bleeding. “Don’t worry about it, get Scott in the car
and go. Drive. I’ll get Tamara.” He stood there then kept going, and I turned
and ran down the hall, and up a staircase.
There I stopped in my tracks. A blood chilling scene spilled
out before me….
